Tirana, 30 May 2019 - Tirana International Airport (TIA) has now made available to all passengers the new electronic access technology, e-Gates.

e-Gates is an automated system that verifies a passenger’s boarding pass in the departure area prior to them crossing into the security area. The system checks the biometric data contained in the pass, reducing waiting times and increasing the quality of services at the Airport.

The advantage of this technology is that it accelerates the checking of travel documentation and increases the level of security for individuals accessing the security control area.

The e-Gates system functions for all passengers, irrespective of their abilities, a particular focus of TIA's operational and supporting services.

Currently, 17 airlines operate in and out of TIA, to more than 30 destinations.
