Tirana, 1 June 2026 – Tirana International Airport (TIA) and Ryanair today inaugurated the first direct flight between Tirana and Parma, adding another destination to the growing network of direct connections linking Albania with Europe.
The inaugural flight was marked with a special ceremony at Tirana International Airport, attended by TIA representatives, Ryanair representatives and passengers travelling on the first service.
The Tirana–Parma route forms part of Ryanair’s continued expansion in Albania following the opening of its Tirana base in April 2026. The new destination provides passengers with direct access to one of Italy’s most renowned cities, further strengthening Albania’s connectivity with key European markets.
Italy remains Albania’s most important international market, accounting for over 40% of the country’s international passenger traffic. In this context, Ryanair continues to play a significant role in expanding direct connections between the two countries, offering travellers more options while supporting tourism, business activity and economic exchange.
The launch of the new route also reflects the continued growth of Tirana International Airport and its commitment to expanding direct connectivity to major European destinations. Ryanair’s investment in Albania, including four based aircraft and a substantial number of new routes for the summer 2026 season, further reinforces TIA’s position as one of the fastest-growing airports in the region.

At the ceremony, Piervittorio Farabbi, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Tirana International Airport, stated:
“The launch of the Tirana–Parma route represents another important step in strengthening Albania’s connectivity with Italy, one of the most important markets for Albanian travellers. The continued expansion of Ryanair’s network at TIA creates new opportunities for tourism, business and economic exchange between our countries.”
Michele Bufo, CEO of Parma Airport, added:
“The launch of Ryanair’s new route to Tirana marks an important milestone in Parma Airport’s strategy to expand its network and strengthen its role within a rapidly growing and increasingly interconnected economic area. This route is the result of close collaboration between the Parma-Romagna Airport management and key economic, cultural and tourism stakeholders in Albania. It creates new opportunities for mobility, business development and regional growth.”
Ryanair’s investment, including four aircraft based at Tirana International Airport, a significant expansion of destinations and the launch of new routes for the summer 2026 season, further strengthens TIA’s position as one of the most dynamic airports in the region.
Tirana International Airport remains committed to expanding its destination network through partnerships with airlines and continues to create new travel opportunities for passengers in Albania and across the region.
