Tirana International Airport appoints new Chief Executive Officer

Tirana, Albania, 19 August 2019 – Tirana International Airport (TIA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Constantin von Alvensleben as Chief Executive Officer, effective 2 September 2019. Constantin will lead TIA’s management team, overseeing corporate and business development strategy, government and stakeholder relations.
Constantin is a highly experienced executive with an extensive international career in airport development and management. He has overseen major airport development projects internationally including in CIS, Eastern Europe and the USA, and managed major acquisition and bidding processes for international airports in India and Australia. Constantin will work closely with Volker Wenderfeuer who was appointed Chief Operation Officer of TIA in July this year, and who has had extensive senior leadership experience at international airports including Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg, Russia, and Cairo Airport, Egypt.
Constantin is currently the General Manager of FAKT Group, a real estate and infrastructure development firm based in Essen, Germany. Prior to this he held various senior management positions at organisations including HOCHTIEF Concessions and HOCHTIEF Airport, subsidiaries of leading construction firm HOCHTIEF Group. He was also Chairman of specialist aviation consultancy T&L which focuses on maximising passenger and cargo terminal capacity. Between 2006 and 2007, Constantin was Chief Executive Officer of TIA,. By the end of his tenure, TIA reached a passenger volume of 1.2 million and a turnover of EUR 23 million.

With this extensive background in infrastructure and construction, proven leadership experience, and familiarity with operating in Albania, Constantin is well positioned to lead TIA into its next stage of growth, while keeping safety and security as a key priority.”
