Within the framework of TIA’s aerodrome certification compliance, arising from the national and international regulations/requirements, standards and recommended practices (ICAO SARPs), a full scale emergency exercise combined with a partial Security Exercise EMEX 2022 were conducted on 15/11/2022. The exercise was successfully organized and delivered, and the required KPI were fully achieved.
As part of the exercise scenario, TIA simulated an aircraft accident with runway excursion while landing, including the full rescue, firefighting response and handling of a suspicious object. The main objective was that of evaluating the response and preparedness capabilities of TIA emergency and security departments as well as the response and coordination among all involved external agencies, forces and entities.
The exercise included more than 150 volunteers, responders and observers from different agencies who performed and evaluated the coordination with and amongst agencies, mass-casualty response, injured immediate assistance and transportation, family care, security and communications.
The external organizations and agencies involved in the exercise include: Albcontrol, Police, National Civil Protection Agency, Albanian Civil Aviation Authority, Investigation Authority, Anti-Explosive Unit, Red Cross, Emergency Response Albania (ERA), Medical staff of Armed Forces, Voluntary Center of Civil Emergencies, Fire Stations Vora, Kamez, Kruja, Airlines, Rinas Custom, etc.
