Tirana, 1 July 2025 – Tirana International Airport (TIA), proudly celebrated five years of successful partnership with Wizz Air, one of Europe’s leading low-cost carriers. Since launching its base in Tirana in 2020, Wizz Air has played a central role in expanding Albania’s international air connectivity, transforming TIA into one of the fastest-growing airports in the region.
To mark this important milestone, a special event was held with the participation of Wizz Air representatives, the media, institutional partners, TIA Brand Ambassadors, and TIA staff. During the celebration, Wizz Air announced the launch of three new routes from Tirana to:
- Larnaka, Cyprus
- Málaga, Spain
- Malta
These new destinations, previously unserved from Tirana, will begin operating in October 2025. The new routes will fly twice a week to Larnaka and Málaga and three times a week to Malta. With these additions, Wizz Air will operate 53 routes to 16 countries from Tirana International Airport, offering passengers even more options for leisure and cultural travel across Europe.
In celebration of the anniversary, Wizz Air launched a special one-day promotion, offering 15% off selected flights to and from Tirana for bookings made on 1 July 2025, valid for travel through 31 August 2025.
Passengers were greeted with festive decorations, a vibrant atmosphere, and branded sweets distributed by TIA and Wizz Air staff. The event highlighted the strong collaboration between the two organizations and their shared commitment to service excellence and network growth.
“We are proud to celebrate five years of partnership with Wizz Air—an airline that has significantly contributed to the expansion of Albania’s international connectivity,” said Piervittorio Farabbi, Chief Operating Officer of Tirana International Airport. “Thanks to the vision and investments of the Kastrati Group, TIA continues to evolve as a regional hub, offering passengers broader access to Europe while enhancing their travel experience. We look forward to achieving even more milestones together.”
“Today marks an important milestone for Wizz Air in Albania. In just five years, Tirana has become a key base for our regional network, and we are proud to celebrate it with new destinations and a special offer for our customers.
