• Celebration ceremony to take place on 23 April • TIA marks one decade of development and progress
On 23 April 2015, Tirana International Airport (TIA) will celebrate ten years of the concession period of the Airport, reaching the halfway stage of the concession project.
In 2005, TIA took over Rinas Airport when it was serving about 600,000 passengers a year, and last year TIA served 1.8 million passengers. “But such growth is not just about our figures; it is about the country’s development, and this is the most important thing for all of us,” said TIA’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Rolf Castro-Vasquez.
Tirana International Airport SHPK has three shareholders—AviAlliance GmbH, DEG Deutsche In¬vestitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft and the Albanian-American Enterprise Fund. The financing of the EUR 70 million investment programme was arranged with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development as principal lender supported by Intesa Sanpaolo, Alpha Bank and DEG.
“Since the beginning of our operations as the management company for Tirana International Airport in 2005, TIA has set new standards for air transport in Albania, with regard to both the quality of services and the frequency of use of the Airport,” added Mr Castro-Vasquez.
It is expected that the highest representatives of the Airport, government, TIA partners and shareholders, airlines and customers will be present at the ceremony.
