Tirana, 2 July 2025 – Tirana International Airport (TIA), operated by the Kastrati Group, proudly announces the launch of a brand-new partnership with Vueling, one of Europe’s leading low-cost airlines. The carrier’s inaugural flight from Barcelona to Tirana marks the official entry of Vueling into the Albanian market and adds a significant new player to TIA’s growing list of international operators.
As a member of the IAG group and with Barcelona as its main hub, Vueling offers extensive connectivity across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. The introduction of direct flights between Tirana and Barcelona, operating four times a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday), provides Albanian travelers with greater access not only to Spain but also to onward connections via El Prat Airport.
“We are beyond excited to inaugurate a new direct service between Barcelona and Tirana. Albania has seen growing interest among European travelers, and we’re proud to bring these two dynamic cities closer than ever. As Barcelona is Vueling’s main hub, we remain committed to enhancing regional connectivity, now offering travelers from Tirana a convenient and accessible way to discover our home city,” said Jordi Pla, Chief Network and Strategy Officer at Vueling.
The inaugural flight landed at TIA on July 2nd and was welcomed with a symbolic ceremony held airside, , TIA’s executive team, institutional partners, media, and TIA Brand Ambassadors. Passengers were greeted with sweets, crew members were honored with flowers, and the ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the beginning of this new cooperation.
“Welcoming Vueling to Tirana is a milestone that reflects the airport’s increasing global appeal,” said Piervittorio Farabbi, Chief Operating Officer at Tirana International Airport. “Vueling’s presence not only connects Tirana with one of Europe’s most vibrant cities but also with Vueling’s extensive network. This is a valuable step in expanding travel opportunities for our passengers and positioning TIA as a regional aviation hub.”
“The start of direct flights from Barcelona with Vueling is another example of the growing international recognition Albania is receiving as a destination. These connections are essential in strengthening our tourism sector and sharing Albania’s natural and cultural richness with a broader European audience,” said Zana Cela, Director of the Albanian Tourism Agency (AKT).
Vueling’s entry into the Albanian market is part of a broader trend of increased interest from international carriers, reflecting Albania’s attractiveness as a tourism and investment destination. The route is expected to boost inbound tourism from Spain and Western Europe, particularly during the busy summer season.
