Tirana, 28 November 2019—EasyJet, the British low-cost flight giant, has now arrived in Albania, with two direct flights with Milan (Italy) and Geneva (Switzerland). The first flight took place on 28 November from Tirana International Airport. The Milan–Tirana and Geneva–Tirana flights will take place three times a week, on Tuesday, Thursdays and Sundays. Reservations for these flights can be made through EasyJet's online site, various online sites and travel agencies.
Responding to the increase in demand for connections between the two countries on either side of the Adriatic Sea, EasyJet has, for the first time, introduced flights to and from TIA. The entry into Albania of the low-cost British airline giant, initially with two routes, but with a view to expanding the number of destinations, will change the domestic flight market. Low-cost flights are expected to increase competition and bring cheaper fares to citizens.
“EasyJet's first flight from Tirana is great news for TIA and all Albanians, as another prestigious company is added to the expanding list of companies operating from Tirana. The aim of the Airport is to increase the number of companies flying in to and out of TIA, to increase the range of services, and, above all, to offer Albanian citizens more new destinations, and at cheaper prices,” said Tirana International Airport Executive Director, Mr Constantin von Alvensleben.
There are already 17 different airlines flying in to and from TIA and this expansion is helping lower ticket prices.
