Tirana, 1 April 2019 - The inaugural flight connecting the Albanian capital, Tirana, with the largest city in Switzerland, Zurich, took place today.
This SWISS route will be operated by Edelweiss, who will offer passengers twice-weekly direct flights, every Monday and Friday.
Zurich is Switzerland’s largest city, with a population size of 380,000 and more than a million people living in the region. It is home to the headquarters of many Swiss firms, financial services companies, life sciences research centres and businesses in the creative industry, making Zurich Switzerland’s most important economic hub.
Participating in the ceremony were the Swiss Ambassador, Mr Adrian Maitre, Vice Ambassador, Mr Philipp Keller, Albania’s Civil Aviation Authority Director and Legal Adviser, Mr Bujar Hazizaj, and Civil Aviation Authority Traffic Rights Director, Mrs Keida Koshaj.
Mr Maitre said, “We appreciate the collaboration with Tirana International Airport and are delighted that TIA is expanding its services every day.”
While the TIA’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Rolf Castro-Vasquez said “We appreciate our cooperation with SWISS Airlines.This is great news for all. Meanwhile, other destinations will be coming soon. The city of Zurich is now much closer, and we wish our best for the new route.”
