• Lufthansa commences daily flight to Frankfurt with an Embraer E190 • New route replaces flights from Tirana to Munich
On Thursday 31 March 2016, Tirana International Airport (TIA) holds a ceremony to inaugurate a new route, from Tirana to Frankfurt. The new service will be operated daily by Lufthansa Airlines with an Embraer E190 aircraft, which can carry up to 94 passengers. The flight lasts 2 hours 15 minutes.
“This summer will be busy for Tirana International Airport, and this is a good news. Lufthansa has been operating in Albania for 20 years now, and this prestigious airline is always welcome to open daily flights to destinations that might be of great interest to our Albanian passengers and others,” said Mr Rolf Castro-Vasquez, Chief Executive Officer of Tirana International Airport.
Frankfurt is one of Europe’s most important airports, situated in Germany’s second largest metropolitan region and one of the biggest and strongest economic regions in Europe.
“I am confident that passengers travelling to and from Tirana will enjoy the new route as much as they did flights to Munich, especially as Frankfurt Airport connects our Albanian passengers to a large number of European and other continental destinations. Lufthansa alone serves 172 destinations in 72 countries worldwide from Frankfurt. Thanks to our convenient schedule between Tirana and Frankfurt, Lufthansa is a perfect choice for regional business travellers and tourists,” said Alexander Tolweth, Country Manager of Lufthansa Albania.
With the introduction of the new summer schedule on 27 March, Lufthansa Group Airlines offers its customers one of the densest route networks worldwide, featuring more than 23,140 flights per week. This summer, via its hubs in Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich, Vienna and Brussels, as well as via many point-to-point routes, Lufthansa Group Airlines will serve 316 destinations in 101 countries. Additionally, Lufthansa passengers now have the opportunity to fly directly with Europe’s biggest airline from Frankfurt to dream destinations such as Cancún, Mexico, Malé, in the Maldives, and Mauritius.
