23.09.2014- Flights scheduled for three times a week- National carrier will operate route with an ATR72
On 23 September 2014, Tirana International Airport (TIA) inaugurated a new route between Tirana and Belgrade. Air Serbia, the national carrier, will operate the route three times per week—on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays—with an ATR72.
“We are delighted to welcome Air Serbia as our newest airline partner and I am confident they will receive a very warm welcome from the passengers of Tirana International Airport. This new route will provide the opportunity for further development of economic possibilities between our two countries and for vacations that a great city connected to other European destinations provides: in other words, a winning combination,” said Mrs Suela Keri, TIA’s Chief Finance Officer, during a ceremony held to mark the occasion.
Air Serbia’s Chief Executive Officer, Dane Kondić, said, “The re-introduction of services to Tirana benefits more than two million Albanian diaspora in Europe with increased travel options and connectivity through our Belgrade hub to their homeland. The route will also contribute further to the growth of Albania’s inbound tourism.”
An official statement from the carrier says that tickets can be purchased by contacting the Air Serbia Call Centre at +381 11 3112123 from abroad, or 0800 11 528 from within Serbia (free-call number), or by visiting its web site (www.airserbia.com) or any of its offices or authorized travel agents.
Among officials from both countries present at the ceremony was Mr Ylli Manjani, Albania’s Vice Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, who expressed, “The commitment of the Albanian government to enabling further the development of this very important sector, in which air operators are well positioned, with Tirana International Airport and other private entities sharing a common vision for development of tourism and business in the region. A direct flight between our two capital cities provides another opportunity for further integration of the region.”
The new route brings the number of foreign destinations reached by direct flight from Tirana to 20.
