Tirana International Airport (TIA) held a ceremony on Friday, 9 May 2014, to celebrate the beginning of a new direct route between Tirana and Frankfurt. The four-times-a-week service is provided by Adria Airways and will operate on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
“When it comes to the launch of a new route from Tirana International Airport, we all feel particularly proud because of the great changes in air travel that we have witnessed over the last few years in Albania. On behalf of the Airport, I offer my warmest congratulations to Adria Airways, one of our best clients and partners,” said Mr Rolf Castro-Vasquez, the Chief Executive Officer of TIA.
Officials from Albania’s civil aviation authority, Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, Adria Airways and Slovenia’s civil aviation authority participated in the ceremony marking the new route. The Ambassador of Republic of Slovenia Albania, H. E. Mr Bojan Bertoncelj, participated in the ceremony along with the officials.
“I am very pleased that we have introduced this service and I trust that we will satisfy the traveling needs of both German and Albanian citizens”, said Mark An?ur, Adria Airways President and CEO during the briefing with the delegation in Tirana.
The new route, along with the recent start of operations by other airlines, brings the total number of foreign destinations reached by direct flight to 18, and the number of airlines operating here to thirteen.
Adria Airways will operate an Airbus 319 on the new route to Frankfurt. This modern aircraft has a capacity of 135 seats, and provides top levels of both comfort and safety. The flying time between Tirana and Frankfurt is two hours.
TIA is now preparing for the summer season offering its consistently high standards of security, service and comfort for all of its customers.
