TIA: FAM TRIP between touristic operators from Tirana and Switzerland

Tirana, 9 April 2019 - Tirana International Airport (TIA), in collaboration with the Embassy of Switzerland, Lufthansa Group and the National Tourism Agency, have organised a Familiarization Trip (FAM TRIP), in which more than 100 tour operators from Switzerland participated.

As part of the FAM TRIP, a B2B (business-to-business) meeting between Albanian and Swiss Tourist Agencies took place on 4–5 April, with the aim of selling tourism packages to the Swiss market.

TIA organised a welcome ceremony for their new guests at an event aimed at bringing Albania closer to Switzerland. The hosts took the opportunity to present the country’s potential in the area of tourism, with the tour operators visiting Berat, Kepi i Rodonit, the capital city, Tirana, and agro-tourism businesses close to the Airport.

The tour was followed by business meetings held between Albanian and Swiss Tourist Agencies at the conference held on 5 April with the aim of connecting the operators and the direct selling of Albania tourism packages to the Swiss market. The conference was greeted by the Head of Sales of Lufthansa Group, Mr Jürg Christen, the Swiss Ambassador, His Excellency Adrian Maître, the Director of the National Tourism Agency, Mrs Kornelia Ferizaj, and TIA Chief Risk Officer, Mr Franck Wu.

This meeting was an important step in the promotion of the Albanian tourism market in Switzerland, as direct flights recently started twice a week between Tirana and Zürich.

Tirana International Airport is positively contributing towards a better business environment and better economy for Albania, as well as for its tourism development. Since the beginning of operations as the management company, TIA has set new standards for air transport in Albania, with regard to both the quality of services and frequency of use of the Airport.
