3. Where can I travel in the Schengen area without a visa?
The new regulations for Albanian travelers holding a biometric passport means visa-free travel to each country of Schengen area except for Great Britain and for Ireland. Thus visa-free travel is permitted to the following countries:
Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Malta, Netherlands (Holland), Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden.
4. What is the smoking policy of Tirana International Airport?
In accordance with its policy of creating a friendly and healthy environment for its passengers, TIA applies a strict No-Smoking policy throughout the terminal. Smoking is allowed only in outside areas in front of the terminal and in the smoking area adjacent to the Departures area.
5. What items are considered as dangerous goods and not permitted on board aircraft?
All baggage at TIA undergoes strict security screening measures. Examples of dangerous items prohibited in hand and checked-in baggage include:
• explosives, munitions and fireworks
• compressed gasses
• corrosive materials
• flammable liquids and solids
• radioactive materials
• medicines and alcoholic beverages, except in limited quantities
• toxic or infectious materials
• oxidant substances and organic peroxides
• materials containing fuel
6. What items are not permitted in my hand luggage?
Please consult your airline at the check-in counter for items prohibited from carrying on board aircraft. Such items include:
• nail files
• baseball bats
• golf clubs
In accordance with an EU Directive, TIA adopts strict security rules that restrict the quantities of liquids, aerosols and gels (LAGs) that can pass beyond security checkpoints. Travellers are only allowed to carry small quantities of LAGs in their hand luggage. These substances should be held in individual containers with a maximum capacity of 100 millilitres each. Such containers should be packed in a single transparent, re-sealable plastic bag of not more than one litre capacity per passenger. LAGs packed in checked-in luggage are not considered problematic. LAGs include water and beverages, soups, syrups, creams, lotions and oils, perfumes, sprays, gels (including hair and shower gels), the contents of pressurized containers (including shaving foam, other foams and deodorants), pastes (including toothpaste), liquid–solid mixtures, mascara and any other items of similar consistency.
7. What is the procedure if my child is traveling alone?
TIA staff accept an unaccompanied child (under the age of 12 years) with the signing of a form that the child is taken into their charge, and shall bring the child only to the person(s) stated in the form. Once border police procedures are completed, the child is accompanied to the person(s) awaiting her or him. These persons must submit an identification document (mandatory).
The person(s) receiving the child must be the same person(s) stated on the form signed by the parents.
8. What should I do with overweight or oversize luggage?
Concerning permitted overweight or oversized baggage, each airline has limits. For more information, interested persons should visit their carrier’s (airline) official website.
9. Where do I pick up my luggage?
The number of the baggage reclaim belt is provided to passengers upon arrival on special monitors located in the Arrivals Area.
Responsibility for baggage handling and delivery lies with the airlines and their ground handling agent.
10. Whom do I contact if there is a problem with my baggage?
The Lost and Found Office is located at the Arrivals area in the terminal. Should you require information on lost baggage please contact +355 42381 681/2.
11. Where do I wait to meet friends and relatives upon their arrival?
Arriving passengers exit at the Arrivals Area. For confirmation of arrival and other information please contact the Airport Information point located in the terminal or call the Call centre at +355 4 2381 800.

13. Where can I store my baggage?
As a result of the latest anti-terrorism laws there is no luggage storage available at Tirana International Airport.
